About
Sculpties are a bit organic in nature. Due to the lossy compression of JPEG files, the original x,y,z values are changed in suttle ways. To the naked eye, our original skulpty textures look the same. When that image is applied to a prim, it becomes apparent when you start noticing bumps all over your prim. Another problem with sculpties are edges. Try making a cube and you'll see what I mean. I can only hope that later on down the road, we can choose to have the JPEG images stored with lossless on the asset servers. For now, we will have to make due with JPEG 2000 with its efforts to remove "noise". From Dedric Mauriac via blogHUD
